Thank you for your comment, Rachel. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Things have been so busy, my blog has been on the back burner. :)
Vereniki is also a tradition in my family as my grandmother also came from the Ukraine. Her family enjoyed several varieties of vereniki, some filled with potatoes, some with a type of cottage cheese (as you mentioned), some with ground meat sauteed with onions, and even some filled with cooked cherries.
In my family we most often fill them with potatoes.
As far as I know, all of these would be considered traditional vereniki. :)

I was researching this dish, it has been a family tradition to make. However, we always used dry curd cottage cheese. I wonder if that would still be considered a traditional Vereniki? I know the recipe came from my great grandmother who was a German living in the Ukraine. Any info you could pass along would be helpful!

Dianna, thank you for your kind words. I have missed you and your family and thought of you often! Ashley had the best time at your Purim party. It has been the highlight of her year thus far. Maybe once I get everything unpacked and organized we could get together and go horseback riding? :)

Everybody needs to take a step back and review their comments.

Richard:
You know very little about Christianity and it's princibles. You also know very little about witches and demonology. But not unlike the those who are emotional yet ignorant, you resort to name calling.

Thankfulplace:

Your heart is in the right place. But old testament teachings require very close attention. The advice given in deuteronomy was given to the "sojourn" going into the new land. I'm not saying this admonition was useful then and not now, because the principles remain the same. Perhaps if you were on a missionary in Kenya. You would not want to practice the tribe's customes. You would stick to your own religious beliefs.

In the new testament which represents the NEW Covenant; Christ let the adulterer go. He did not have her stoned. Christ instructed his diciples to cast out demons from possesed breathren. They had to understand demonology. Then in the final chapter of Acts, they had to understand how to communicate with spirits. The Holy Spirit. A better verse to practice would be, 2 Cor. 6:14. Don't be yoked with unbelievers. This would tell you, don't practice witchraft. Don't summon spirits.(as you could be summoning a demon) etc...
Just review the context in which you're grabbing bible verses.

Cricket,
1st, our government was built on Judeal/Christan princibles. There is NO line in our constitution/Amendments/or Declaration of Independence that says state and religion shall remain separate. The closest argument comes in the 1st amendment which gives all Americans the right to freedom of religion. (note* it doesn't say freedom FROM religion) If you choose to practice atheism, that's fine, but others are allowed to practice whatever religion they choose from voodoo to Hindu.

And a very important correction, You stated:

Christianity has a strong hunger to be the all powerful religion in this world.

Christians invite others to share their belief. On the other hand Muslims Kill all of those who disagree with Allah. Don't believe me? I dare you to watch this short video. Then tell me who hungers to be the all powerful religion in the world.
